The (1) mile walk will take place Saturday, October 5th, 9-10:30 a.m., in Downtown Newark at the square. You are welcome to walk in person, individually, or with a team. Come that day or walk on your own, anytime, any place. We trust you to walk a mile in her shoes!
You are helping a young woman from Central Ohio...
She has no family.
She has no home.
She has no job or job training.
She has no regular transportation.
She probably does not have her high school diploma.
She may be a single mom.
She is between the ages of 18 and 25.
She has aged out of Ohio’s foster care system and/or is a victim of human trafficking.
Young people age out of foster care at the age of 18 every year in Ohio.
Have been abused and/or victims of human trafficking while in foster care.
That would be 3 OSU marching bands every year with every member having been abused and/or trafficked.
According to national statistics, 2-4 years after aging out of foster care, the 1,000 young people each year in Ohio face an uncertain future.
331 will be unemployed with little to no job training
299 will not complete high school due to aging out and unstable housing
260 will be on public assistance or incarcerated
338 will be using drugs or abusing alcohol
318 will be homeless or in temporary and unstable housing
546 will be parenting along with all the other challenges
Between the years 2014 and 2016 according to a University of Cincinnati study identifying victims of human trafficking.
I grew up in and out of the foster care system, was raped the first time at age four by my then foster father's brother. Over a period of 13 years, I was abused in 11 different homes. My birth mom would work her plan then sadly be back on drugs and back into a home I went. I met the McCampbells at their mentoring group and they have been in my life since. They loved me when I didn't know how to love myself. They have stayed in contact, been present and for that I am grateful. I am so excited about the Strong Tower Project!
Strong Tower helps restore hope and a future for young women who are victims of human trafficking and/or have aged out of foster care.
We provide the people who help each woman create a path forward in a place to call home.
Currently, we come alongside Central Ohio women, ages 18-25. We provide compassion, mentoring, counseling, and essential resources, so they are not alone as they heal and find a victorious path forward.
With the Strong Tower property, we will welcome women to a safe haven and guide them through a two-year program built upon the pillars of:

We believe you. Whatever you’ve been through, we believe you. Why? Because we’ve been there, too, and we know how bad it gets. But we've learned how to overcome. And you can too! But you can’t do it alone. Check out who we are and give us a call/text. There is hope for a better tomorrow!
Knowing Darcey & Jay are there for me and always will be, since meeting as a teenager (I am now 30!), has been a huge blessing. I am excited to see how many lives will be changed because people do care and know trafficking is NEVER a choice a young lady makes on her own.
