Four values of the Strong Tower Program:
HOPE, OPPORTUNITY, MENTORING, EMPOWERMENT
Strong Tower is our comprehensive two-year program, provided in a safe and dependable home environment.
Every Child deserves to grow up in a loving, safe family. Kingdom Pillars provides services, and support to Central Ohio women, ages 18-25, who have been trafficked and those aging out of the foster care system; and to fostering and adoptive families committed to providing loving homes. Our Strong Tower program provides the home to restore hope and a future for these young women creating a victorious path forward.
The destructive path vs the Strong Tower path. Young women will commit crimes to get caught just so they are safe from the dangers of being on the streets. According to the Licking County Justice Center, the cost to house an inmate is $108 per day. That is $3240 per month. The cost of providing housing and daily living costs is estimated to be around $28 a day or $840 per month. For a fourth of the cost of incarceration, our Strong Tower Home will provide a safe warm place to live and sleep, food, mentoring, mental health services in a family environment, preparation and life skills needed to become an independent woman and part of society.
Darcey McCampbell, co-founder of Kingdom Pillars, has been mentoring women for 21 years. She currently is mentoring eight women who have aged out of foster care and/or have been sex trafficked. Darcey’s mentoring role has been honed over her many years of fostering 79 children and adopting 9 with her husband Jay. The McCampbells know first-hand the trauma and brokenness caused by a childhood of instability and living in a system rather than being loved in a family. They know how to walk alongside a young adult who has been trafficked for sex. Five of the nine children they adopted were trafficked—by biological family and/or while in foster care. The national statistics vary from study to study, but sadly they range from 50% up to 80% of children in foster care having been trafficked going into or during foster care.
The Strong Tower program is built upon pillars that strengthen each lady committed to her path forward: dependable housing, safety and trust, mental health, mentoring, education and life skills, and spiritual growth.
The location must remain private to protect the ladies, but some amazing details all come together in one location:
Solidly built 8300 square foot home with 2 wings.
Wing 1 includes a separate entrance for office space, secure apartment for house parents, activity space for therapeutic activities, such as art and movement, group sessions, and Strong Tower "family" holidays and reunions. There's space for fundraising, and onsite training for program volunteers, law enforcement, churches, foster parents, educators, and others who want to know how to stop human trafficking within their spheres.
Wing 2 will provide the home environment for the Strong Tower ladies. Full kitchen, great room, study, dining area, bedrooms. We'll have space for 8 ladies initially with build-out space to accommodate bedrooms for a mother and child, additional bathroom and laundry.
Decks, gardens, and woods surround the house providing places for recreation, peaceful and safe reflection, and therapeutic learning activities.
The location is secluded and yet within minutes of health and community services, childcare, education, and work opportunities.
A faithful partner of Kingdom Pillars mentioned this property. A letter sent in faith with much prayer led to a meeting with the owner who now has a great desire to see the loving legacy of this home continue through Kingdom Pillars. For the sake of the women, the owner is only asking a portion of what could be expected if placed on the market. But the owner needs to move and so do we. So we must all act quickly!
We need to raise the full amount of $550,000 by September 30, 2021 and/or have a benefactor or bank finance the portion that we do not raise by the deadline and the reminder of the goal to be paid back over the next 4 years through financial pledges.
Asking price for 8300 sf home with 7+ acres ($66 per sf)
Average cost per square foot for comparable homes is $126
Laundry and bath updates, driveway, gathering room floor updates. (Roof is under evaluation)
Future capital improvements and emergency
of rescuing and restoring women from human trafficking and helping women aging out of foster care have a home and a victorious path forward?
The Cornerstone gifts are the foundation and first gifts we must build on. As of April 15, we currently have 20% of the $550,000 solidly committed, with new partners like you being invited to give through personal appointments and our monthly home gatherings.
The Framer gifts will be those that are willing to come together and give our campaign momentum and show the value of sacrificial gifts for the mission.
The Wall Builder gifts show the solid stewardship of faithful people who understand the importance of being the covering for the mission to thrive.
The Finisher gifts are important to give many an opportunity to be a part of this project.
The Furnisher gifts provide the final touches for the home to be complete and ready
Your gift may decrease your tax burden in 2021 under the Appropriations Act.
With your help, women who have no where to go and no one to turn to will have a place to go, with people to help create a victorious path forward.
